Mirror Mirror on the Wall – One of Those Must Have Locker Accessories
There are several accessories that you can use for your locker that you can make on your own. Mirrors are a great addition to school lockers. For students, image is everything and getting a chance to check out hair, makeup or maybe even an outfit, is a routine activity for students when it is locker time in between classes. Making your own is a very fun, easy, and inexpensive back to school craft idea.
Here are the supplies that you will need.
Two 12×18 pieces of foam
White craft glue
Scissors
Gem-Tac (jewelry glue)
Scrapbook stickers or other embellishments
Small round craft magnets
Pencil
5 inch square mirror (only use craft mirrors for this project)
- Cut the foam in half.
- Place your mirror on the center of the half of the foam and trace around it.
- Remove the mirror and you should be left with a piece of foam with a pencil drawn outline of the shape of the mirror.
- You need to cut the shape of the mirror out of the foam but start cutting in the center because you don’t want to cut the edges of the foam. When you are done it cutting, if you did it correctly is should like a donut (square of course) with a hole in the middle.
- On your second half of foam, spread the white craft glue in the center, where you are going to be placing the mirror and place the mirror there.
- On your square donut piece of foam, spread the white craft glue around the entire piece on one side. Place this on top of the piece of foam that you put the mirror on. When you apply the glue, you don’t want to put too much, but you want to put enough where it will give a firm and sturdy hold.
- Turn the whole thing over to the back side and using the Gem Tac glue, affix the four magnets to the area where the mirror is positioned.
- Allow for ample drying time and make sure it is completely dry before proceeding.
- Now for the fun stuff…Use craft letters or stickers to personalize it. Then add your favorite stickers or embellishments to finish it off. For example boys may want sports cutouts and girls may want to add flowers to it
You know have your very own custom locker mirror. The decorating ideas are endless but whatever you choose will certainly be an eye catcher to your friends and will add a nice touch to your locker and an added bonus is that it is one more thing you can scratch off from your back to school supply list.
